About Us
For over 17 years Green-tech has supplied landscape, grounds maintenance, forestry and agriculture markets with innovative products that protect, enhance and improve plants and their environment.
Formed in 1994 by the current owners Richard and Rachel Kay, Green-tech started life supplying the Yorkshire golf course market with essential maintenance products. The business quickly developed with demand increasing for a broader product range and expansion into other related markets such as forestry, landscape and amenity. At this point Richard and Rachel employed 5 people and operated out of a small garage, a far cry from the 40 -strong team and the 30,000 sqft warehousing space that can be seen in Nun Monkton, York today.
Green-tech’s success can be credited to its ability to move with the times compounded with its experience of the industry. Last year Green-tech moved into two new markets, supplying products to both the Horticulture (Professional Growers) and Garden Centre retail markets. Both markets are proving to be an astute move for the company. To support the new business venture Green-tech has employed 5 new people from the local area.
Operating within the landscaping industry, Green-tech is aware of the importance of the impact of business on the environment. Green-tech’s own-brand Green Tree Topsoil is manufactured using organic compost and overburdened sand from quarries, all products which would otherwise hit landfill. The product is of such a high quality and promotes sustainability that it is a renowned Green Apple award winner. Green Tree Topsoil has been used on many high-profile construction sites across the UK and is currently in great-demand, this is resulting in the creation of 2 new soil production sites in Scotland and Kent within the first quarter of 2011.
