Protouch has won a third best technology award for its self service kiosks at the Retail System Awards 2009.
The awards ceremony saw the touch screen and self service kiosk manufacturer win the Best use of Technology in the Hospitality and Leisure Award for its Unlimited Film Programme Xen X5 kiosks produced for Cineworld .
The winners were announced at the prestigious Ballroom, Grosvenor House Hotel in London on October 29, 2009 where the Protouch team collected the award for successfully developing an innovative kiosk that achieved business growth for Cineworld.
Consumer expectations were central to this category win and the result of effective and efficient technology was clearly seen through the deployment of the Xen kiosks.
The story: In 2008, Cineworld contacted Protouch in a bid to automate the whole registration process of its Unlimited Film Programme with an eco-friendly kiosk solution. Membership to the programme entitles visitors to watch any film, any day, any time at any Cineworld Cinema from just £13.50 per month.
Cineworld installed Protouch’s easy-to-use, self service Xen X5 kiosks that customers use to register without staff assistance. The kiosks currently operate in 27 cinema sites including, Glasgow, West India Queys and Cheltenham and will be rolled out to most of Cineworld’s 75 UK sites.
In just 6 months the kiosks saved Cineworld in excess of 1,000 staff hours and increased new members by 100 per week, resulting in the number of Unlimited sign ups being increased by 10 per cent.
On the back of this success Protouch were further approached by Cineworld to roll out the Xen X4 kiosk range into all of its UK cinema sites. The X4s are used by cinema goers for ticket purchase and collection and run as either wall or floor mounted units, using the latest Chasis Printer technology for fast printing ticket receipts.
