A Funicular railway is a transit system used for transporting passengers up and down terrain with steep slopes. The tram-like vehicles are pulled up the slope by a cable which loops over a pulley wheel at the upper end of the track. As well as a convenient transport method for sharp gradients, it also appeals to passengers due to the stunning views it offers as it ascends and descends the hill.
