Here at Garmendale, we embrace the importance of safety, continuity and minimising downtime. Your business is our business, and the comfort and safety of your visitors is vital and built into our DNA. Since 1994, we have provided specialist engineered shot gun gates to many of the fastest, highest and most exciting rides in Europe, the US and the Middle East,. Throughout this time, we have built up a proven track record of ensuring effective, safe and comfortable visitor throughput.
Shot Gun Gates – Engineered to the Highest Standards
Our range of shotgun gates are designed and manufactured to meet BS 7036 parts 1, 3 & 4 Code of Practice for safety of powered doors, and BSEN ISO 13849 covering safety-related parts of control systems. The usual Garmendale high-quality engineering procedures for design and manufacture also apply. The system has been designed so that at no time is high pressure used on the gate activating cylinder – this is one of the main safety aspects of the design. The soft start dump valve is activated by the ‘E’ stop system on the main ride and should the ‘E’ stop be pressed anywhere on the system at any time, it would immediately dump the air from the gate system. If the gates are in part open or part closed mode and the gates are pushed manually, they will go into gate closed or gate open position
Maximum Safety and Comfort
Our shotgun gates are available with two key operating systems. The first of these is the pneumatic gating system and there is also the recently added electrically operated gating system. Both provide maximum visitor comfort and safety, by preventing closure, if the mechanism senses that there is an obstruction i.e. an arm or leg. Unlike conventional kinetic energy locks which can be forced open, our system mechanically locks, preventing unauthorised entry and maximising safety. If they were pushed closed, they would mechanically lock once the gates have reached the fully closed position. In addition, our pneumatic control panel is also built in-house ensuring that the gates can be fully integrated with the ride’s control system should you wish. This prevents despatch unless all doors are closed and locked properly. We can also send signals direct to your own ride control system. What’s more, all of our gates are fitted with coded switches. This makes it impossible to activate the gates or ride any other way than that intended by the detailed design risk assessment, therefore ensuring visitor safety and avoiding costly mistakes.
High Quality Manufacturing
All of our gates are designed to the highest BSEN 1090 standard to ensure long-lasting safety, reliability and durability. We have installed systems that are regularly used and have been in place since 1994. Many of our early systems have now completed well over 2 million cycles, offering exceptional value on your investment.
To understand how complex your system needs to be we would start our process with a detailed design risk assessment, taking into consideration operational requirements and maximum safety. Our gates are shot-blast zinc rich primed and powder coated to BS or RAL colour codes. They are also available in a stainless steel polish or satin finish. Alternatively, we can work with your creative team to come up with a variety of themed effects. Not all environments are suitable for gates, so our engineering versatility has enabled our mechanism to be used also on solid doors.
