Walton Engineering has long-standing, established relationships with major diesel engine and industrial gas turbine manufacturers whereby the Walton direct acting temperature control mechanism has been integrated into the power plant at its design stage for the control of lubricating oil temperature.
The advantage of this Gas Turbine Temperature Control Mechanism is that it dispenses with the need for the valve body and associated external pipework. The overall system is therefore lighter, more compact and cheaper. In addition, the shorter internal oil paths allow the mechanism to respond rapidly to temperature changes, and therefore provide more accurate control.
The gas turbines in which the Walton temperature control mechanism is fitted are themselves installed in a variety of marine and power generation applications in the oil and gas industry, with many employed on offshore platforms.
This evolution of the Walton valve is another example of the degree of customisation that is possible based on the standard valve mechanisms.
