This unique trait diminishes the need for overseeding, reduces weed growth, and helps prevent unsightly clumps common in other Tall Fescue varieties. Two independent trials conducted by the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) compared RTF turf mixtures with traditional perennial ryegrass mixtures for heavy-wear applications. 

The first trial found that RTF turf’s wear tolerance equals that of sports perennial ryegrass after a longer establishment period, with excellent recovery capabilities even after severe wear stress. In the second trial, RTF turf consistently demonstrated better surface stability and traction grip compared to perennial ryegrass turf.
