A drive into the original equipment market has been launched by hydraPower dynamics who have started a new company hydraPower dynamics OEM Ltd. The OEM business has recruited Phil Harrison and Frank Ganley both well-known in the hydraulics sector. Phil comes in as managing director and Frank is sales manager, both reporting to Patrick Browne, managing director of the hydrapower dynamics group.
HydraPower dynamics is based at Ladywood, Birmingham, and specialises in the supply of fluid power solutions including high pressure hoses, manipulated tubes, moulded hoses, shaped nylon tubes, swaging equipment and its operation at Aldridge, Staffordshire, designs and builds surface coating plant. HydraPower dynamics OEM operates from the Ladywood site. The surface coatings business has completed a number of projects for the aerospace industry during the past two years and is looking to increase its presence in that market with other products already supplied by the group. HydraPower dynamics already has a presence in the OEM market but through the new company it is looking to significantly increase its activities in the sector.
Alan Woodfield, the chairman of hydraPower dynamics, said: “We are making a new drive into the original equipment market and there are signs of improvement among some of our OEM customers but that does not say the economy and financial crunch will be over soon. Signs of any type of improvement must be balanced against the worst effects caused by the financial downturn. “The economic problems have affected virtually every part of the engineering sector and businesses have been cutting back on production schedules but it has given us the opportunity to look at our own situation and where we should be heading. “We have been in business for 26 years and have a strong balance sheet and during the last ten years we took a positive decision to diversify and that has helped to keep the business buoyant,” said Mr Woodfield.
