Harry Stebbing Workshop

The Harry Stebbing Workshop produces traditional furniture and notice boards, all handmade by craftsmen to the very highest standards, using English Oak from a locally managed estate.

We pride ourselves on quality and care, whether you’re looking for church furniture, a notice board, or memorial bench; all our products receive the same care and attention to detail as the finest piece of furniture, combining high specifications with realistic pricing, and a product that will last.

We’re safeguarding the future of ancient woodland by planting an oak tree for every item sold, an initiative we set up with Woodland Heritage, whose patron is HRH The Prince of Wales. This enables us to use the finest English Oak together with an exceptionally durable blend of natural oils as a finishing agent, which penetrates deep into the wood with no danger of cracking or blistering.

All of our notice boards and signage boards are glazed with unbreakable polycarbonate (used in the windows of the Space Shuttle!) and equipped with solid brass fittings. They come with stove enamelled box section sockets, so the wooden posts are protected from the elements and not concreted directly into the ground.

You can see we build things to last, like our memorial benches - solidly crafted, with two and three inch thick English Oak that should last a lifetime, coupled with discreet below-ground fixings to ensure your bench stays where you put it.

From finely crafted church furniture, to honours and signage boards, and memorial benches that are made to last, the Harry Stebbing workshop is proud to specialise in English Oak – anything else would be a compromise.

British Flora

BritishFlora has grown from a small family run business to become the foremost UK Native Flora producer. During this transition we have developed techniques and growing solutions that have allowed the production of native wildflowers and aquatics to be on commercial levels with uniform, dependable quality.

We are currently producing approximately five million plants annually on our purpose built, fully automated nursery set amid 50 hectares. BritishFlora is the country’s leading wholesale grower of indigenous aquatics and wildflowers.

For over twenty years we have led the way in researching the propagation and supply of non woody native plants species for every type of application.

With well over 300 species continually available, we are able to grow most indigenous plant material in any quantity to order including reeds, sedges and grasses, as well as wetland, woodland, heathland, meadow and salt marsh species. BritishFlora supplies site –specific seed mixes and offers a nationwide seed collection and sowing service.

Increasingly, stock is grown from locally collected seed to protect regional genetic individuality ( local provenance ); with suitable lead time, local provenance source plant material can be supplied in any quantity. To date, BritishFlora has successfully established an estimated 28 million indigenous plants throughout the UK in habitats as diverse as highways, nature reserves, business parks, landfill sites and the banks of canals, ponds, lakes, rivers as well as heath and salt marshes.

BritishFlora adheres to the Flora Locale code of conduct for the supply of Native Flora and is a recommended supplier of Native Flora on the Flora Locale website. Our stock is guaranteed UK provenance and is also guaranteed to be free of pernicious plant propagules such as Crassula, Azzolla and Elodea.

With 20 years in the field, BritishFlora’s experienced Botanists, Ecologists and Consultants are available to assist architects, consulting engineers, councils and developers in the selection and aftercare of native aquatics and wildflowers used in: eco-remediation technology; the design, creation, inhancement and management of wildlife habitats including wetland, woodland and meadow areas, watercourse and green engineering and SUDS.

BritishFlora is an affiliate member of BALI and has adopted Flora Locale’s code of practice for growers and suppliers of Native Flora and seeds. The company is in the process of applying for ACHILLES.
