Leading international POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics has recently launched its latest high speed thermal receipt printer, the TSP700II. This printer builds on the highly successful TSP700 and forms part of a family of products from Star Micronics that have been effectively installed in a number of kiosk environments including Vodafone top-up kiosks, a driver operated terminal designed for Avery-Weigh Tronix to print receipts detailing the weight and load information of vehicles and the Jessops digital print kiosk designed by kiosk manufacturer Integrex.
The TSP700II truly succeeds its predecessor by combining high speed with functionality. A highly sophisticated receipt printer, the TSP700II is capable of printing at a remarkable 250mm/second. With a vertical operation kit included as standard at purchase this facilitates the easy ‘drop-in’ installation of the printer into a kiosk. Incorporating a number of software tools from the revolutionary TSP100 futurePRNT series from Star Micronics, the TSP700II features an automatic receipt reversal software tool alongside a range of additional tools enabling receipts to be re-designed and vouchers or coupons to be simply and easily added.
DED introduce the MGTA series of printer mechanisms from Axiohm. The fastest printer in its class, printing at a speed of 180mm per second, the MGTA features a heavy duty guillotine cutter and works within a wide range of operating temperatures enabling its improved paper feeding function to be taken advantage of in banking, gaming, transportation, ticketing and vending applications.
The superior guillotine on the MGTA offers an improved lifespan of up to 1 million cuts, is quicker, quieter and is less likely to overheat than other printers of similar capability on the market. Lending itself easily to outdoor applications with minimal fuss, the MGTA operates in a temperature range of between -20o C and +60o C. Printing receipts of 80mm or 82.5 mm wide, the MGTA works equally well indoors.
With simple ‘clamshell’ paper loading, a range of boards in RS232 and USB interfaces to drive the mechanism and options to facilitate integration, the weight and dimensions of the MGTA only serve to strengthen its flexibility. Weighing just 370g, with dimensions of 112.75mm in width x 66.71 mm in depth x 41.7 mm in height, the MGTA has to be a serious contender for your next kiosk project!

The NP266 and NP366 series of thermal printers from Nippon Primex are now available from DED. Developed with flexibility in mind, the NP266 and NP366 series printers are also available in ‘slim’ configuration models for kiosks where space is at a premium.

Starting at just 103.5mm wide x 97.8mm deep x 131.3mm high for the slim models and 103.5mm wide x 106.7mm deep x 161.3mm high for the standard models, integration couldn’t be simpler with interfaces for USB and RS232C serial and drivers for Windows 2000 and XP.
An optional presenter unit is available which loops and holds the paper until it is completely printed. Only then does it cut and eject it preventing the paper from being pulled whilst still printing.
