10/7/07 - NRI Support Charity Climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania
NRI has a reputation of focusing on and nurturing new ideas. This philosophy extends outside everyday business. When former business partner Owen MacNeil of Canada explained of his plan to climb a mountain for a good cause, it didn’t take NRI long to decide. “We take our social responsibility seriously”, explained Gary Partridge, company Marketing Director. “Thus, when Owen came to us with his idea we were all ears.”

Owen MacNeil is the former president of Hi-Tech Gaming in Canada. Hi-Tech and NRI built up a long-standing relationship. Indeed, NRI was the first supplier to give Hi-Tech national distribution rights. The relationship became very strong and very successful as, during this time Hi-Tech sold tens of thousands of NRI product in Canada. “Hi-Tech really helped to put NRI on the Canadian gaming map. We really appreciate Owen’s support throughout the years and so it was natural to support Owen in his quest”, explained Partridge.

Owen chose a mountain climb not so close by. Indeed, he went all the way to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. This personal challenge was linked with a clear goal – to raise money for charity. Owen bore all the travel costs himself so that all money sponsored went to the charity. Owen chose the charity called “Make a Wish”. This charity was founded in 1980 in Arizona, USA. The mission is to grant the wishes of children between the ages of 3 and 17 with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. So far over 160,000 wishes have been granted for children and in Canada almost 20,000. Owen’s goal was to raise $15,000 for the charity. “We actually managed $20,000. Many thanks to all who have supported us, especially NRI”.

Mount Kilimanjaro is 19,340 feet high and the climb took 11 days in total. Owen explained, “It was a real challenge and was so worth-while. The feeling when we reached the summit was amazing. It was hard work, but that’s part of life, isn’t it?”

Gary Partridge commented, “We congratulate Owen on the climb and raising so much money for this important charity. We were used to Owen giving 100% for NRI in Canada so we had every confidence in him.”

6/7/08 - German rock star plays BALLY WULFF
Bally Wulff congratulates Frank Zander on his wedding anniversary

Berlin, 6 July 2007 - For more than 25 years, pop star Frank Zander has been rocking, swinging, swaying and rapping on the German music scene, dressed up in unique imaginative costumes, taking on a variety of alter egos.

And exactly 40 years ago he married his wife, Evelyn Zander.

This may be an unusual occasion for receiving a payout machine as a present, but still it was Frank Zander’s first family celebration following his performance together with Bally Wulff about one year ago: at a lavish reception in Berlin’s Estrel Hotel, the new range of machines prepared under new German AWP regulations was launched before an audience of over 400 operators. The games could be played in operational mode, rather than as exhibition samples, with all of the proceeds going to a charity event: a Christmas dinner for 2,000 homeless people organized by Frank Zander.

Bernhard Eber had listened carefully to Frank Zander’s request, the »Total Genial« payout machine, and had taken the first opportunity to fulfil Zander’s wish. He had hardly set up the machine in Zander’s recording studio, when the discs started rotating. »Well, I’ve always been the playful type«, Zander grins with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
