7/11/2007 - All Change For Ireland's Coin-Op Expo!

Held at the beginning of March each year in Dublin, Ireland’s Coin-Op Expo celebrates its 2’th birthday in 2008, when it will be held on 4 & 5 March!  Over the years it has had a number of name changes, from Coin-Op to AmusExpo to AmEx, with the 2008 event being titled Coin-Op Expo - AmEx 2008!

There have also been a number of venue changes from Leopardstown Exhibition Centre to the Burlington Hotel and finally to the Green Isle Hotel.  Even this involved a number of changes - as the hotel itself changed its name from Doyle Green Isle to Jury’s Green Isle to the current Lynch Green Isle.

One of the world’s smallest gaming and amusement trade shows is organised by Martin Dempsey, a thirty year veteran of the coin-op industry, who is editor of the Irish based European trade publication Coin-Op News.

He is also secretary of IGAA - Irish Gaming & Amusement Association (formerly IAEA - the Irish Amusement Equipment Association), which is a member of EUROMAT - the European Gaming & Amusement Federation.

AmEx boasts a programme of seminars, meetings, business presentations and social gatherings, continuing the show’s reputation for bringing together Irish and international manufacturers, distributors and operators in a businesslike atmosphere.

Visitors from all over Ireland and further afield converge on Dublin for the two most important days in the Irish Gaming & Amusement Calendar, combining business activities and social events, making it an occasion not to be missed.

The Mary Openshaw Memorial Award For Excellence was inaugurated at AmEx 2004 in memory of the late Mary Openshaw, the renowned journalist who served the international amusement industry for over 35 years.  A new recipient is announced at AmEx each year.

Finally, the Guinness Factor has played a big role in the ongoing popularity of the exhibition.  Not just the Guinness itself, but all the other good things associated with Ireland and the ability to have a good time while conducting serious business.

Many international exhibitors and visitors come to Ireland for the first time to the show but almost all return regularly, not just on business, but also on holidays with family and friends - and they are always welcome!

AmEx is organised by MD Associates and supported by IGAA - Irish Gaming & Amusement Association (Member Of Euromat).  For further information phone +353 45 521 1’0, email martin@coin-opexpo.eu  or go to http://www.coin-opexpo.eu
