TUP500DP

International printer manufacturer Star Micronics has developed an important new printer upgrade for its versatile TUP500 series which effectively responds to growing demand for small and compact kiosk printing solutions.

The TUP500DP chassis upgrade takes up to 25% less space than the TUP500 yet can still accommodate a 10cm paper roll in diameter thus offering a highly flexible printing solution.  Key features of this series include a print speed up to 220mm per second, a 45 - 82.5mm adjustable paper width and a 203 dpi print resolution on media up to 0.15mm in thickness as well as a flashing paper exit guide that provides a low cost yet effective means of enhancing paper delivery within a kiosk.  Providing extra security, the bezel’s internal sensor can determine exactly when or, more importantly, whether the ticket or receipt has been taken and then return the result as part of the printer’s normal status response.

The TUP500DP can be installed by the end user with training or alternatively installation by a Star reseller can be requested.  This upgrade clearly demonstrates Star’s dedication and ability to customise printers to meet specific build needs.  In fact, the new TUP500DP is a direct response to requests for a more compact TUP500 series while still providing the reliability and flexibility of an open frame printer designed specifically for the kiosk market.

FVP10 printer

Star Micronics has developed yet another industry-first with the introduction of the world’s first front operation, multi-functional printer with a range of unique features including a voice communication tool.  With no compromise between functionality, cost and innovation the versatile FVP10 printer offers high speed performance, paper saving features as well as a new method of user and printer interaction and drawer-style paper loading in a shelf position.

The FVP10 allows barcodes, receipts, tickets and labels to be printed on media from 0.065 to 0.15mm in thickness with flexible linear paper width adjustment from 58 to 80mm, thus providing complete application functionality as well as high-quality 203 dpi output at print speeds up to 250mm/second.

Cost-Effective Eco-Friendly A4 Replacement Printer Using Unique Scalable Raster Driver From Star Micronics

As kiosks become an increasingly cost effective solution for many retailers their presence within the retail sector is becoming far more widespread.   In response, printer manufacturers such as Star Micronics have developed a range of printers to accommodate an ever-expanding variety of kiosk applications.   With features such as a scalable raster driver which is available on both open frame and packaged kiosk printers developed by Star, A4 content can be reduced to virtual A6 with exacting precision.

Whether using standard 80mm wide paper or 112mm wide paper the documents created will be printed exactly as they are displayed making this ideal for printing from any application that is designed for A4 printers, such as Internet output. By replacing an A4 laser printer, significant cost savings both in terms of hardware costs can be realised as well as environmental benefits through reduced CO2 emissions and reduced power consumption.

By using the TSP800 packaged printer or the TUP992 open frame printer in a kiosk, the retailer benefits from web printing services by automatically scaling A4 images on to 112mm wide paper, without having to install an expensive and complex laser printer with its associated consumable costs. Beyond these costs savings and considering the environmental benefits in greater detail the TSP800 uses an estimated 18% of the power consumed by a typical A4 laser printer when printing and emits an estimated 18% of the CO2 emissions from a typical laser printer per annum.   Furthermore, there is no requirement for third party software controls to enable scaled printing and with a first page out time of less than one second compared to an average of 22 seconds for a typical laser printer, speed is certainly not compromised.
